Chris Smith
/Chris grew up, after his dad retired from the Air Force, in San Marcos where he lettered in 5 Varsity sports his junior and senior years. Chris went on to play college football at Texas State, formerly Southwest Texas State. Chris graduated from Texas State Suma Cum Laude with an Exercise and Sports Science degree and a minor in mathematics. It was at SWT, that Chris met Tahrea (pronounced Terra) and they have been married 25 years this summer. Chris has 4 children, Shelby currently in Thailand on mission, Tyler and Charis, both currently at Texas State and Kale who will soon be a Warrior.
Chris stated his coaching career in Hays CISD at Barton Middle School for 3 years and Hays High School for 14 years before being called into full time ministry at Fellowship Church at Plum Creek. Chris taught Algebra and Geometry and was also the Offensive Coordinator under Bob Shelton and the Varsity Assistant basketball coach. Since stepping out of Hays CISD, Chris has been coaching through the San Marcos Panther organization until this year.
Chris is called to minister to youth and loves to play Spikeball, ultimate frisbee and any game involving a ball. Chris also loves preaching God’s word and reading Christian fiction.
